Ukrainian Ambassador to the Vatican Andriy Yurash said that Kyiv would be very happy to see Pope Francis, including before his trip to Kazakhstan, which is planned in September. About this diplomat wrote on Twitter after meeting with the pontiff.
Yurash claims that the Pope wants to visit Ukraine. This, according to him, is evidenced by the statements of Francis. In particular, the Ukrainian diplomat recalled that the head of the Roman Catholic Church expressed his desire to come to Kyiv during his trip to Canada.
“Ukraine has been waiting for the Pope for many years, and especially since the beginning of the Russian special operation, and will be happy to welcome him before traveling to Kazakhstan,” Yurash noted.
Earlier, Life wrote that the Pope hopes to come to Russia in the spring, visit Moscow and St. Petersburg. The pontiff wants to visit several Orthodox shrines, including the Assumption Cathedral in the Kremlin, the Church of St. Martin in the Tagansky district of Moscow and the Tretyakov Gallery, as well as follow in the footsteps of the writer Fyodor Dostoevsky in St. Petersburg.
