The Ambassador appreciated the interest of Russians in vacationing in Turkey

Russian tourists might be afraid of a sharp rise in prices for vacations in Turkey in May, but in general they are interested in vacationing in the country. This was stated by Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexei Yerkhov in an interview with the local edition of Ekonomim, RIA Novosti reports.

The Ambassador believes that the tourist season will be successful for Turkey this year. “Our tourists come here. Statistics for the first four months of the year show an increase in the number of Russian travelers compared to last year,” Yerkhov said. At the same time, he noted that in May the dynamics decreased. “Was anyone scared? I can’t rule out that someone could. And someone, perhaps, was scared away by seriously increased prices,” the diplomat said.

According to Yerkhov, market principles are clearly working in the tourism industry: if something goes wrong, the market reacts quickly. “In general, we can assure you that our tourists have been, are and will be interested in resting in Turkey,” the diplomat added.

Earlier, the ambassador spoke about the dangers of the tourist season. He recommended not to forget to purchase health insurance and take into account the high air temperature in Turkey in July-August. Because of cardiovascular diseases, tourists die on vacation most often, he recalled.
