India vs Australia Batting coach Vikram Rathour on KL rahul spot in playing XI says we are not there yet

KL Rahul’s poor performance with the bat has continued since last one year. He has scored runs but hasn’t been able to maintain his consistent form and many players are eyeing his spot as an opener as someone like Gill can quickly replace him if his form doesn’t improve. However, Indian team’s batting coach Vikram Rathour defended opener KL Rahul, who was included in the playing XI despite his poor form.

KL Rahul managed to get off to a good start in the first innings of the first Test match against Australia. But returned to the pavilion after scoring 20 runs in 71 balls. After this, once again the discussion has started regarding Rahul’s place in the playing XI. However, India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour backed Rahul to perform well, citing his past innings.

Vikram Rathore said in the press conference after the stump on the second day, “KL Rahul has scored some centuries and half-centuries in the last 10 innings. He has also scored centuries in England and South Africa. I don’t think we are there (Rahul’s place in the playing XI).
Earlier, Harbhajan Singh had said that if Rahul had batted with an attacking approach in the last session of the first day of the first Test, he could have scored more runs.

With the help of Rohit’s century and Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel’s half-centuries, India took a 144-run lead in the first innings on the second day of the first Test cricket match.
