The spread of the delta variant of COVID-19 is to blame for everything

The number of hospitalizations for coronavirus patients has skyrocketed in the UK. Twice as many people are admitted to hospitals. One and a half times more often patients end up in intensive care. According to doctors, the spread of the delta variant of COVID-19 is to blame for everything.

At the same time, experts are confident that total vaccination will help solve the problem. At the very least, it will save the health care system when it is overloaded. This was stated by a researcher at the University of Cambridge, Anna Peasants.

Over the past year and a half, a huge number of small mutations have appeared in the original RNA of the coronavirus. Some of them have markedly increased the infectiousness of COVID-19. And that is why the delta variant spread so quickly across the planet, scientists say.

Experts analyzed the medical history of more than 43 thousand patients who were admitted to British clinics this spring. Most of them were infected with the alpha variant of the coronavirus. But 8.6 thousand – the delta option.

At the same time, about 74% of patients infected with the new strain have not yet received the vaccine, another 24% received only one dose of the vaccine.
