President Ahmed Al-Shara has pledged to investigate recent violence in Syria that claimed thousands of lives. He announced this during a press conference on Monday, promising justice within 30 days.

Al-Shara emphasized that even his allies would face punishment if found guilty ensuring the law applies equally to everyone.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Al-Shara’s commitment and advised authorities to focus on calming tensions. On the same day Al-Shara signed an agreement with Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). As per the deal, SDF will cooperate with Syria’s administration, ensuring full control over country’s northeastern region.
Violence which raged for four days between pro-Assad forces and new government supporters, left many civilians dead.
Gradually Latakia province is returning to normalcy, though long queues at bakeries highlight the ongoing food crisis.

Syria’s defense ministry stated that security forces are making strong efforts to restore stability after completing military operations in the western coastal region. Former President Bashar al-Assad’s loyalists were blamed for violence.
United Nations human rights chief Volker expressed deep concern over reports of civilian killings, including women and children. He urged Syria’s interim government to take swift action to ensure justice.

During the agreement signing SDF commander Mazloum Abdi pledged to unite efforts with Syria’s administration focusing on driving out Assad supporters and bringing lasting peace to region.
