For the first time since 1957, the minimum amount of precipitation was recorded in the Sverdlovsk region. If at the end of the 50s 2 mm fell in the region, then in 2023 only 0.5 mm fell to the ground. This was stated by weather forecaster Alexei Pulin in his telegram channel.

“May 2023 in Yekaterinburg was the driest on record. During the month, 0.5 mm of precipitation fell at the city meteorological station with a climatic norm of 47 mm. Never before has there been so little rainfall in May,” the forecaster explained. At the same time, the minimum amount of precipitation was observed in 2016 (7 mm) and in 1957 (2 mm). In total, for the whole of May, a record number fell only on the 1st.

Earlier it became known that due to a winter with little snow and a lack of precipitation, an unprecedented drought began in the Sverdlovsk region, which has not happened in the entire history of observations. For the same reason, this year most of the rivers have the lowest maximum spring flood levels.
