Jens Stoltenberg.
NATO countries have depleted their stocks of artillery shells for transfer to Ukraine and set themselves the goal of increasing their production. This was stated by Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with CNN.
According to him, now the conflict in Ukraine has turned into hostilities “at attrition”, “confrontation of logistics”, and the Ukrainian military must be supplied daily so that they bring results in battle.
“The problem now is that the consumption of shells exceeds our production. So far, we have depleted our reserves, ”RIA Novosti quoted Stoltenberg as saying.
At the same time, he noted that the alliance will support Ukraine for as long as necessary, TASS reports. Stoltenberg added that Russia should not be allowed to “win in Ukraine.” In his opinion, this will not only be a tragedy for the people of Ukraine, but will also pose a danger to NATO itself.
Earlier, Stoltenberg called on Moscow to reconsider its decision to suspend participation in the Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (START). He expressed regret with such a step of the Russian authorities.
