Petersburg police detained a suspect in involvement in the kidnapping of a Russian businessman and politician in 1997. This was announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk. Kommersant’s source in law enforcement specified that he was talking about a former deputy of the State Duma of the first convocation, Mark Goryachev.

As Kommersant reported, the abduction took place in March 1997. Then the businessman, chairman of the Goryachev concern and ex-State Duma deputy Mark Goryachev was captured by three unknown people. According to investigators, the kidnapping took place on Torzhkovskaya street near house number 20. The young people approached the Volvo 850 in which Goryachev was, pulled the businessman out of the car by force, put him in a white Zhiguli and drove him away in an unknown direction. Since that time, no one has seen the entrepreneur.
