South Korean leader and US ambassador discuss situation on Korean Peninsula


Belatedly, it became known that on August 9, the President of South Korea Yoon Seok Yeol met with the US Ambassador Philip Goldberg and Commander of US Forces on the Korean Peninsula Paul Lacamera.

According to representatives of the administration of the South Korean leader, the meeting was also attended by the Minister of Defense Lee Jong SubChairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Kim Seung-kyum and head of the Office of National Security of the presidential administration Kim Sun Han.

It is reported that the main purpose of the meeting was to get acquainted with the new US ambassador and discuss the security situation on the Korean Peninsula ahead of the joint South Korean-American exercises, which will begin on August 22.

Recall that the US Ambassador to South Korea arrived in Seoul on July 10, and on July 12 handed a copy of his credentials to the South Korean Foreign Minister.
