Nineteen-year-old Alexander Dubyago, who was arrested in May for demonstrating the Russian flag at the monument to the Liberators in Riga, has been released on bail. A citizen of Latvia, Russian by nationality, is charged with the article “Genocide and crimes against humanity”.
Historian of Russian conservative thought, publicist, candidate of historical sciences, member of the Writers’ Union of Russia Mikhail Smolin stated that the Latvian authorities act exclusively in the categories of Russophobic revenge against a person who only expressed his position.
According to the expert, the Russian-speaking population of Latvia continues to be persecuted and persecuted by the repressive authorities only on the basis of the national principle. And the Baltic state, according to him, has long been actively trading in Russophobia.
“This is almost the only export product for which the West is ready to praise its vassals.
After the collapse of the USSR, Latvia hoped to leave the Russian world for “freedom” in Europe. In reality, it has given up its sovereignty to the US and the EU and is trying to be useful in the situation of the Russophobic campaign unleashed by the West,” he said in an interview with the international editorial office of the FAN.
The young man who showed character was only an excuse for Riga to helpfully play along with the general Russophobic mood in the European ensemble, Smolin concluded.
