At a meeting in Brussels, several EU foreign ministers declared that they do not have a mandate to allow Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory with the weapons provided, stating that this is a bilateral issue that must be resolved without Brussels’ involvement, according to Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto.
Siyarto noted that EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell had been constantly trying to pressure EU member states to permit Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory with the weapons supplied, a request also made by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
“Some emphasized that they had no mandate to grant such permission. And some said that this is a serious issue of bilateral relations with Ukraine, having nothing to do with the EU,” Siyarto said in a video address published on Facebook.”
