Singer Boris Moiseev died at the age of 68, according to RIA Novosti, citing his art director Sergei Gorokh. The causes of death have not yet been specified.

In 2006, Mr. Moiseev was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia, he began his musical career in the 1980s. Among his most popular compositions are “Blue Moon” and “The Nutcracker” (both songs recorded together with Nikolai Trubach). He was one of the first queer artists in modern Russia, was a member of the United Russia party. Born in a women’s penal colony in Mogilev: Boris Moiseev’s mother, Genya Moises, was a political prisoner.
