Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, more than 3.5 million Ukrainian citizens have crossed into Russian territory, Vladimir Kulishov, First Deputy Director of the FSB Border Service, told TASS. According to him, people left “in connection with the aggravation of the humanitarian situation in the areas of combat operations.”
The FSB claims that against the backdrop of a military operation on the Russian-Ukrainian border, “military threats related to attempts by the Ukrainian side to commit provocations have escalated,” as well as the introduction of sabotage and reconnaissance groups into the Russian Federation. Because of this, the counterintelligence regime has been strengthened within the Bryansk, Kursk, Rostov, Belgorod and Voronezh regions, as well as in the Crimea, Mr. Kulishov specified.
On May 22, as a result of an attack by saboteurs on the Grayvoron district of the Belgorod region, 12 people were injured, two died. Responsibility for the attack was claimed by members of the Legion “Freedom of Russia” (recognized as terrorist in Russia and banned) and the “Russian Volunteer Corps”, participating in hostilities on the side of Ukraine.
