Showers banned on French Riviera due to drought

The prefecture of the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in France has imposed a ban on the use of showers on beaches. This is necessary to conserve water due to drought, informs TV channel BFM.

“In order to combat the drought that has hit the department hard, the prefect of Vara announced additional restrictions adopted at the meeting of the water resources committee on Wednesday. Showers on the beaches of the department will be closed,” — stated in the material.

Restrictions have also been tightened. So, from 9 am to 7 pm it is forbidden to water the plants if the water for this purpose is taken from the Canal de Provence. Failure to comply with the measures may result in a fine of 7.5 thousand euros for companies and 1.5 for private households.
