In separate accidents two fatalities were reported in Kansas and three in Missouri. Authorities have declared all schools closed and canceled thousands of flights to ensure safety. Residents have been urged to stay indoors due to worsening conditions.

Storm has blanketed roads, homes and trees in white creating a striking yet perilous landscape. Over 60 million people from Midwest to East Coast are under weather alerts.
Seven states have declared emergencies as meteorologists warn this could be the heaviest snowfall and coldest temperatures in over a decade.
In Washington D.C. snowfall could reach up to 16 inches. Nearly 350,000 homes and businesses are without power causing immense hardship for residents.
