Russian passenger aircraft SSJ New and MS-21 may enter mass production as early as 2024, said Yury Slyusar, General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). He explained that the liners will consist mainly of Russian-made parts.
“Taking into account the production cycle and accelerating the implementation of the import substitution program, including the engine, on-board radio-electronic equipment and other systems and units, it is planned to enter the serial production of a Russified aircraft by 2024. According to MS-21, the key task is to start production of the machine in the Russian version in 2024,” Mr. Slyusar said in an interview with TASS.
Yesterday, on August 15, the UAC CEO specified that the first flight of the “import-substituted” SSJ 100 is scheduled for mid-2023, in which Russian-French engines will be replaced with completely Russian ones. The intention to localize the production of Russian liners in Rostec was discussed last year.
