Senator Bondarev: Russia needs to strengthen its presence in the CSTO countries

Russia needs to strengthen its presence in the CSTO countries, Transnistria because of the aggressive policy of the West. This statement was made by Senator Viktor Bondarev.

“The strengthening of the hostile US policy against Russia leads to the need to create Russian military bases abroad,” — wrote Viktor Bondarev in his telegram channel. “Russia is obliged to strengthen its presence in the CSTO states,” the senator believes.

He recalled that the USSR during the Cold War had an extensive network of military bases in Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia (Vietnam), and also in Cuba. At the same time, he specified that it is also necessary to strengthen its presence in the republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia recognized by the Russian Federation, “as well as in the self-proclaimed Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.”

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the CSTO always develops “coordinated positions on political and military-strategic issues, topical issues of regional security and the international agenda.” According to Putin, joint work within the CSTO helps to ensure the protection of national interests, sovereignty and independence of countries. The day before, CAR Ambassador Leon Dodonu-Punagaza announced his desire to deploy a Russian military base in the country, reports channel 360. He specified that security issues are planned to be discussed at the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, which will be held on July 26-29.
