Second round of elections for head of administration begins in Gagauzia – Kommersant

The second round of elections for the head of the administration has started in the Gagauz autonomy of Moldova. They are attended by representatives of the opposition parties “Shor” and the Party of Socialists Yevhen Hutsul and Hryhoriy Uzun, respectively. In the first round they received 26% of the votes.

65 polling stations opened in Gagauzia at 7:00, head of the central election commission of the autonomy Yana Kovalenko said TASS. The sites will be open until 21:00.

The head of the administration of Gagauzia is the head of the public administration, represents the autonomy in matters of foreign policy and becomes a member of the Moldovan government. The CEC of Moldova and the police accused Gagauzia of violations during the elections. The parliament of the autonomy took it as an attempt to disrupt the elections.
