At Nizhnevartovsk State University, a student, together with a teacher, developed a new engine that saves electricity. The invention will be especially useful to oilmen in drilling. This was reported to URA.RU in the press service of the NVGU.

“In order to reduce the energy and financial costs of oil workers, Evgeny Shangin, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Oil and Gas Business of the Novosibirsk State University and Alexander Kiselev, a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Ecology and Engineering, proposed replacing a synchronous motor with a birotational one (a rotary mechanism that creates rotation – approx. URA .RU). The latter was developed back in the 90s, but the researchers of the Nizhnevartovsk State University brought it to perfection and assembled a new unique laboratory sample,” the report says.

According to the inventors, the principle of operation of their engine was invented for the first time – it has no foreign analogues. At the same time, even a small-sized model saves electricity by 70%. “Thanks to participation in exhibitions and conferences, employers were able to evaluate the installation. They all claim that the apparatus is easy to use in operation, since its principle is basically similar to the synchronous motor that is already in use. Ours is more modernized,” said Professor Shangin.

Even a small-sized model can reduce energy costs by 70%

Scientists plan to assemble a large-sized model in the next two years. Then they expect to start testing the device in production together with the oilmen.

By focusing on domestic developments and their support, Russia will be able to achieve a high status in the field of world science and technology. Due to the discoveries of young scientists, the country will no longer rely on foreign production, thereby developing its own sectors of the economy.
