Scholz confirmed Der Spigel’s information about sending modern Leopard 2A6 tanks to Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed earlier information about the delivery of 18 modern German tanks Leopard 2A6 to Ukraine. Scholz told about this at a press conference in Rotterdam after negotiations with the Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, said TASS.
“We delivered [танки]as announced,” Scholz said.
The German magazine Der Spiegel reported that Germany had delivered 18 promised Leopard 2A6 tanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The article also clarified that about 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles arrived in the NWO zone. According to the magazine, the last batch of tanks left German territory at the end of last week and has already crossed the Ukrainian border.
The publication clarified that the German authorities, for security reasons, keep secret the exact route along which the arms deliveries take place.
Initially, Germany promised the Ukrainian authorities 14 Leopard 2A6 tanks. But there were not enough models to form a tank battalion, so they decided to send four more pieces of equipment to the country.
