German Chancellor Scholz urged Russia to pick up repaired turbine for Nord Stream

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on Russia to take back the Siemens turbine repaired in Canada for Nord Stream and continue importing gas. The statement was made at a press conference in Berlin. Wrote about it TASS.

“Take her away. She’s here,” Scholz said.

Gazprom announced the forced shutdown of the turbine engine at the Portovaya CS at the end of July. Since July 27, the Nord Stream gas pipeline, which supplies Russian energy to Europe, has been operating at only 20% of its maximum capacity. The daily capacity of the compressor station does not exceed 33 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Prior to this, another turbine, made by Siemens Energy in Canada, was sent to Montreal for repairs. At first, the manufacturer refused to return it to Germany due to anti-Russian sanctions. At the same time, the countries that imposed sanctions did not provide official clarifications on the transportation of units for Nord Stream.

At the insistent requests of Germany, the company nevertheless returned the repaired turbine. That’s what Scholz was talking about.
