Head of the surgical department of the Children’s Clinical Hospital named after N.N. Ivanova in the Samara region, Evgeny Novozhenov assessed the condition of a tiny patient.
As Novozhenov explained, a rare congenital intestinal pathology called malrotation was discovered in a 3-day-old baby, when the intestine takes the wrong place in the abdominal cavity even during intrauterine development. This leads to intestinal obstruction. The patient was taken to the intensive care unit for premature and newborn babies, reports sovainfo.ru.
According to Novozhenov, after a short preparation, the boy was transferred to the operating room, where he underwent a complex operation that required jewelry work from the surgeon. As a result, the pathology was eliminated and now the baby is already preparing for discharge.
