Sadovnichiy: a specialty in exact sciences will be introduced in the new system of higher education

Bachelor’s degree will remain in the new system of higher education in Russia, said the president of the Russian Union of Rectors, the rector of Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov Viktor Sadovnichy. He said that in the exact sciences, in most cases, they will introduce a specialty. After it, you can immediately enter the magistracy.

Mr. Sadovnichy spoke at a press conference on the 2022 admissions campaign. According to the rector, the “general line” supported by the Ministry of Education and Science is the preservation of the specialty. He believes that graduate school “should be scientific, not educational.” “Of course, (should.— “b”) to keep the bachelor’s degree in those cases when it is dictated by some conditions. And, of course, to allow after the specialty to enter the magistracy, and not forbid, as it is now, ”added Mr. Sadovnichy (quote from TASS).

On June 6, the Ministry of Education and Science announced that all Russian universities were excluded from the Bologna process. The Russian authorities decided to abandon the Bologna system (which implies the division of the educational process into four years of bachelor’s and two years of master’s degree) and create their own. It is expected to be operational from 2023.
