Students of aviation colleges must be released from military service or given a deferment from conscription. Sergei Ryabukhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Budget and Financial Markets, came up with such an initiative in the press center of Parliamentary Newspaper.

Aircraft industry issues are particularly acute today. One of the main tasks to be solved is personnel training and increasing the prestige of professions in the industry, the senator believes. He cited the example of the Ulyanovsk Aviation College, with whose director he recently spoke. The head of the educational institution complained that his graduates were immediately drafted into the army.

“If there is competence to revive the aircraft industry, then maybe it’s worth expanding the category of people, by analogy with IT specialists, and giving a respite from the army to students of aviation colleges,” Ryabukhin said.

With such a proposal, he has already addressed the Cabinet.
