Green spaces are someone’s property, so an attempt to pick a lilac branch can result in a fine or even criminal liability. About this agency “Prime” said lawyer Elena Kuderko.

Plants can be the property of a private person or municipality, as well as state – for example, in nature reserves. Each tree or shrub has its own value, there is a special method for calculating the price of each branch, the lawyer noted.

“An impulse to pick a branch from a lilac bush can result in serious legal consequences up to criminal liability,” Kuderko recalled.

Damage to green plants provides for a fine of three to four thousand rubles. Also, a lover of free bouquets can be arrested for 10-15 days. In case of a repeated offense, a bully can be fined in the amount of 40 thousand rubles, or sentenced to imprisonment for a period of one year.
