
Head of the Russian Railways holding (RZD) Oleg Belozerov said that the company is ready to start building a high-speed rail line (HSR) between Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The head of Russian Railways said on a TV show on the Kultura channel that a high-speed train for the main line is already under construction and will be ready by 2027. Also, the general director of the holding noted that at the moment everything is ready for the implementation of the project.
The company plans to put into operation HSR entrances in Moscow and St. Petersburg in 2024, and complete the construction of the highway by 2027. Travel time by high-speed rail between cities will take 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Earlier, the Russian Railways press service denied information about the substandard condition of 60% of the tracks. According to the company, only 17.9% of the total length of railways is overdue overhaul.
