Russian man attacked by tiger shark in Hurghada

A Russian citizen in Hurghada was attacked by a tiger shark, RIA Novosti reports, citing a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Natural Resources.

As the “Parliamentary newspaper” wrote, on June 8 it became known about the fatal attack of a shark on a Russian vacationer in Hurghada. The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the deceased was a man born in 1999.

The Ministry of Nature said that the shark attacked the man because of the accumulation of fish in that area. In connection with the incident at the resort of El Gouna, a two-day ban on swimming, snorkeling and water sports was introduced from June 9.

Experts call the human factor the main reason for shark attacks on people. Vacationers on the shore and on boats feed the fish, which flock together and attract sharks in shallow water.
