Law enforcement agencies of Kosovo have detained Russian journalist Daria Aslamova, Kosovo Interior Minister Jalal Svechliya said. He stated that Mrs. Aslamova was engaged in espionage in a number of countries.
“Today, Daria Aslamova was detained at the border crossing in the north. Several countries have proven that she was spying for Russian military intelligence and that she was undercover as a journalist. She also participated in hostilities in Ukraine, promoting the occupation of Ukraine by the Russian Federation,” wrote Mr. Svechlia on Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
The minister believes that her trip proves “Russian connections” in attempts to destabilize the country. He noted that the journalist tried to cross the border just a week after the escalation in northern Kosovo.
Ms. Aslamova is known as a war correspondent, she worked in Chechnya, Abkhazia, Nagorno-Karabakh, Ossetia, Tajikistan, Yugoslavia. Listed as a special correspondent for Komsomolskaya Pravda on the newspaper’s website (the last publications were in 2021) and as a war correspondent for Tsargrad in Ukraine.
