Captain of the American HC “Washington Capitals” Alexander Ovechkin commented on his team’s absence from the playoffs of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The Russian said that after missing this stage of the competition, it was difficult for him to find the motivation to play further at the same level. Ovechkin said that going to the game without a playoff chance does not make any sense, as it is some kind of “sucks”, according to him.

“Ask any team: in such a situation it is difficult to find energy, emotions, motivation,” the portal quotes the Russian striker.

In his opinion, in order not to get into such an unpleasant situation, during the season it is necessary to fight for every point. Washington lost the chance to participate in the NHL playoffs on April 5. This happened to the team for the first time since 2014.

Prior to this, the media informed that Ovechkin had recovered from his injury and returned to training with the club.
