Russian athletes Gleb Syritsa and Alexei Medvedev received permission from the International Cycling Union (UCI) to compete at international competitions in a neutral status.
How reported TASS in the press service of the UCI, Syritsa and Medvedev received the right to play in a neutral status at the stages of the World Cup, World and European Championships from June 1. As long as the rules of the organization apply to Russians and Belarusians, they will have to participate without the flag of the Russian Federation. Cyclists can take part in competitions and as part of teams in individual disciplines at the World Cup stages.
23-year-old Syritsa is the winner of the 2019 European Games in the team pursuit on the track, 40-year-old Medvedev is the winner of the 2011 and 2018 European mountain bike championships. The United Cycling World Championships will take place in Scotland from 3 to 13 August.
