Russian citizen Alexander Vinnik, extradited to the United States, appeared before a court in the state of California. This was announced on August 5 by the press service of the US Department of Justice, which performs the functions of the Attorney General’s Office in the country.
It is specified that Vinnik appeared for the first time before Judge Sally Kim in the city of San Francisco in the Northern District of the state. Details of the meeting were not given.
Recall that Vinnik was extradited to the United States from France via Greece on a private jet. He was taken first to Boston, and then on a companion plane to San Francisco. He is accused of creating an online cryptocurrency exchange VTS-e, through which, according to the Americans, he laundered at least $4 billion.
