Russian and Belarusian tennis players were allowed to take part in the 2022 US Open.
The press service of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) issued an official statement on June 14, announcing that the Russians and Belarusians would be admitted to the US Open 2022. Athletes will perform at the Grand Slam tournament in a neutral status.
“Based on individual circumstances, the USTA will allow all players, regardless of nationality, to participate in the 2022 US Open,” the organization said.
The US Open will be held in New York from August 29 to September 11. The current winner of the men’s singles tournament is Russian Daniil Medvedev, who leads the ATP rankings.
