The combat crew of the Russian Aerospace Forces performed a test launch of a new missile of the anti-missile defense system. This was reported to journalists in the Russian Defense Ministry on Friday.
“At the Sary-Shagan training ground of the Strategic Missile Forces (Republic of Kazakhstan), the combat crew of the air and missile defense forces of the Russian Aerospace Forces successfully conducted another test launch of a new missile of the Russian anti-missile defense system (ABM)”, – said the department.
The anti-missile confirmed the characteristics laid down, said the commander of the anti-missile defense formation of the Aerospace Forces, Major General Sergei Grabchuk.
“Combat crews successfully completed the task, hitting a conditional target with a given accuracy”, he added.
In July 2020, in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper, the Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces, Colonel General Sergey Surovikin announced the testing of missile defense systems in Moscow and the Central Industrial Region. At the same time, it was reported that in the near future the Aerospace Forces would receive an updated multifunctional radar station and modernized anti-missiles.
