Despite the rapid increase in corona vaccination around the world, the risk of infection is not yet over. For the first time since the start of the Corona epidemic, more than 1000 people have died due to infection in Russia in 24 hours. The easing of Corona restrictions is believed to be the biggest reason for this.
According to official figures, 33,208 new cases were reported in Russia in 24 hours, while 1,002 people lost their lives. For the third consecutive day, the number of new cases and deaths are at a new record level.
The rise in corona infection in Russia has come at a time when only 31 percent of the people in the country have been vaccinated. The easing of restrictions is also one of the reasons for the acceleration. However, once again the method of QR code access is being adopted in public places in many areas.
The Kremlin has refrained from resuming major restrictions despite calling the country’s vaccination rate “unacceptably low”, saying this week officials will have to ensure “the economy continues to function.” It has also been said that Russia’s medical system is ready for the increasing number of patients. The government has held the public responsible for the spurt in cases.
Vaccination is not progressing fast
Several anti-corona vaccines have existed in Russia for months, but a large population has not been vaccinated. Independent surveys suggest that more than half of Russian citizens do not want to be vaccinated. So far 222,315 people have died due to corona in Russia, which is the highest in Europe. At the same time, it is being alleged that the deaths due to corona are being underestimated.
