Russia proposes to ban electric scooters on pedestrian streets

Member of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing from United Russia Alexander Yakubovsky proposed to ban their movement on pedestrian streets, limit the speed of electric scooters to 15 kilometers per hour, and also limit their use to 18 years. The proposal was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Transport.

Expert of the “People’s Front” Pavel Sklyanchuk believes that bans cannot solve this problem, because it is associated with a low driving culture.

“There is no need to slow down the development of delivery or kicksharing services, but it is better to adapt the urban environment to the modern economy,” Sklyanchuk commented.
