Russia has requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday to address Western arms deliveries to Ukraine, according to Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the organization.
The diplomat recalled that on Wednesday, the UN Security Council will discuss the humanitarian aspects of the Ukraine crisis at the request of Ecuador and France.
“In response, we are holding a meeting on September 13 at 10:00 New York time to discuss Western arms supplies to the Kyiv regime,” Polyansky wrote on his Telegram channel.

“Moreover, the ‘high week’ of the UN General Assembly is ahead (September 24-27), and it’s hard to imagine that the ‘expired’ Ukrainian leader won’t ‘twist the arms’ of Westerners to participate in some event with him – we’re keeping that in mind,” he added.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder a settlement and directly involve NATO countries in the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has noted that any cargo containing arms for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia.
According to him, the US and NATO are directly participating in the conflict, not only by supplying arms but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries. The Kremlin has stated that pumping Ukraine with arms from the West does not facilitate negotiations and will have a negative impact.
