Russia expels 10 Romanian diplomats

Romanian Ambassador Cristian Istrate was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday, where he was handed a note declaring ten employees of the Romanian Embassy in Moscow “unacceptable”.

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to press service Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The measure is reportedly a response to Romania’s decision in April to expel 10 employees of the Russian embassy in Bucharest from the country.

The Russian side spoke disapprovingly of Romania’s blaming Russia for war crimes in Ukraine and condemned the “supply of weapons, equipment and other assistance” to Ukraine.

In early April, a mass expulsion of employees of Russian diplomatic missions around the world took place. This happened against the backdrop of the publication of photo and video evidence of massacres of civilians in the city of Bucha, Kyiv region, which was occupied by the Russian military for almost a month.
