Russia and China call for renewal of Iran nuclear deal

Russia and China are in favor of the earliest possible resumption of the full and effective implementation of the Agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, the text of the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation says. Vladimir Putin and the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on the deepening of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between the two countries, which is published on the Kremlin website.

In addition, the parties call for a return to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 on the Iranian nuclear deal. Russia and China are asking all interested parties to take steps that would make it possible to achieve a positive result in the framework of negotiations on this agreement.

As reported IA REGNUMMarch 8, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Ulyanov admitted that the nuclear deal with Iran could be restored, which is what Russia is set up to do. He also noted that while this is possible, one should not miss the chance to return to agreements that will prevent uncontrolled escalation.
