The UAE leg of IPL 2021 has started with a loss by Royal Challengers Bangalore. The team lost by 9 wickets at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders due to the shameful performance of the batsmen. Captain Virat Kohli looked very unhappy with this disappointing performance of the team and he blamed the defeat on the batsmen. Kohli said that we were looking in a good position at one point of time, but losing 5 wickets in 20 runs is like an eye opener. In front of Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell, one of Bangalore’s batsmen did not play and the entire team was all out after scoring just 92 runs. KKR chased down the target of 93 runs in just 10 overs and registered a thumping victory.
Kohli said after the match, ‘It was important to have a good partnership. We didn’t expect so much dew so soon. Lost five wickets for around 20 runs after 42 runs for one wicket. It is like an eye opener, when it happens at the beginning of the second phase, we know which areas we have to work on.’ Kohli, however, is not overly upset over the loss. “We have won five out of eight matches, we expected to lose some matches. It is part of the game, we need to take a professional approach. You have to play according to your strong sides and execute your plan.

Kohli heaped praise on Varun Chakraborty, who sabotaged RCB’s batting order, and said he would be of great use to Team India in the T20 World Cup. Virat said, ‘Varun bowled very well, he will be an important player for us when he plays for India. He is such a player who will get a chance to play for India in the near future, it is a very good sign. Kohli became the first player in the history of IPL to play 200 matches for a single team. However, he could not celebrate this special achievement due to the poor performance of the team.
