The risks of the appearance of cholera strains in the reservoirs of the Nizhny Novgorod region in the summer cannot be ruled out. This was stated by the deputy head of the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor Natalya Sadykova at a press conference.
According to her, there is a danger of the spread of these bacteria, since in the region the ox for domestic needs is taken mainly from open reservoirs.
The representative of the department notes that non-toxic non-toxigenic cholera vibrios are periodically found in the water from rivers and lakes, which means that in the hottest months, toxigenic ones that pose a danger can also appear there.
“Every week, management specialists take water samples at 160 points. The number of points will be increased. In addition, they will begin to analyze wastewater, which will show whether there are cholera cases in the region.”, she said about measures to prevent the spread of this disease.
