Young wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh is the only Indian among the nine players selected for the Women’s T20 World Cup ‘Player of the Tournament’. India crashed out of the tournament after losing by five runs against five-time champions Australia in the semi-final match played in Cape Town on Thursday.
The 19-year-old wicketkeeper shone as a finisher with the bat in the tournament. He played innings of more than 40 runs twice during this period. In this, his innings of 47 not out against England brought the Indian team close to victory.
He scored 168 runs at an average of 68, remaining not out twice in five innings. During this, his strike rate was around 130. He also impressed with his work behind the wicket. Richa caught England opener Danny Wyatt by taking a brilliant catch.
