“Rethink before it’s too late” — EADaily, August 16, 2022 — Politics, Asia News

The PRC called on supporters of Taiwanese independence, whom it called “stubborn”, to “think their heads before it’s too late.” According to a statement released today, August 16, by a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, if they “dare to defy the law,” they will be “severely punished.”

“Taiwan independence is contrary to the course of history, it is a dead end” – emphasized in the document, the text of which leads the Xinhua News Agency.

“We seriously warn die-hard supporters of Taiwan independence that they must come to their senses before it is too late. If they dare to defy the law, they will be severely punished.” – indicated in the application.

The document notes that no one should underestimate China’s strong determination, unwavering will and great ability to protect state sovereignty and territorial integrity. It is also said that the desire for separation and independence of Taiwan is the biggest obstacle to reunification of the motherland and a serious threat to national rejuvenation.

“For some time now, a small number of supporters of Taiwan independence have struggled to collude with outside forces to carry out provocations aimed at independence, deliberately inciting confrontation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and undermining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait,” — said in the document.

It is emphasized that during the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, they behaved “particularly badly”.

“The Chinese mainland will never tolerate any action to split the country, will not allow any outside force to interfere in the process of reunification of the motherland, and will never leave room for any form of separatist activities aimed at Taiwan independence,” – said in Beijing, TASS reports.

As reported EADailyEarlier Tuesday, China announced that seven Taiwanese officials had been added to the list of supporters of the island’s independence and the imposition of sanctions against them. They are banned from entering mainland China, as well as the Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions of the PRC. Entities affiliated with them are prohibited from cooperating with individuals and entities in Mainland China. In addition, affiliated organizations and sponsors are prohibited from conducting profit-making activities in mainland China.
