Residents of a house that collapsed in Astrakhan have already been resettled due to the fall of a wall

Problems with the five-story building, two entrances of which collapsed on the evening of November 16, appeared a long time ago – a wall fell off several years ago. This was reported to URA.RU by regional Duma deputy, ex-State Duma deputy Oleg Shein, who visited the site of the disaster. According to him, after the first collapse they were evicted from the house, but after strengthening the wall they were allowed to return to their apartments.

“About 15 years ago I helped around this house. Now the fourth one collapsed, and in the first entrance the wall was falling off. Then, with the help of the Commission for Emergency Situations, they managed to strengthen this wall. Therefore, in general, people were already evicted, then moved back in,” Shein told a URA.RU correspondent.

According to the deputy, it is too early to talk about the reasons for the collapse of the entrances. Shein suggested that the cause of the disaster could have been illegal redevelopment with dismantling of the supporting structure. The version with a leak in the water supply system is also discussed. Shein ruled out the version with an eye explosion.

The house was built in 1962, the deputy said. As a URA.RU correspondent found out, the previous management company, which was responsible for this five-story building, was closed on January 27, 2020. Presumably, no one was working on the house. The new management company did not answer calls from a URA.RU correspondent.

The partial collapse of a house on Station Square in Astrakhan occurred on the evening of November 16. This was announced by the head of the region Igor Babushkin. Two entrances to the building collapsed; according to preliminary data, 20 apartments were damaged. As a result of the emergency, one person died – an 84-year-old woman. At the time of the collapse, she was in an apartment on the fifth floor.
