The deputy foreign ministers of South Korea, the United States and Japan discussed by telephone the launch of a medium-range ballistic missile by Pyongyang the day before. It is reported by Yonhap News with reference to representatives of the US State Department.
On October 4, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Wendy Sherman had a telephone conversation with the First Deputy Foreign Minister of South Korea Cho hyung dong and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Takeo Mori.
It is reported that the parties criticized the North Korean missile launch, calling it “reckless”, and also pointing out that such actions pose a threat to security in the region.
Representatives of the three countries noted that the launch is a violation of a number of UN Security Council resolutions, reaffirming the importance of maintaining trilateral cooperation.
