Rector Shaninka’s house arrest extended until November 7

The Moscow City Court extended for a month the period of detention under house arrest for Sergei Zuev, rector of the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninka). The defendants in the same case, the head of the Ministry of Education Marina Rakova and her husband Artur Stetsenko, were also kept in custody until November 7.

“The court granted the investigation’s petition to extend Zuev’s preventive measure in the form of house arrest until November 7 … The court granted the investigation’s request and extended the preventive measure in the form of detention until November 7 for Rakova and Stetsenko,” the press service of the court told TASS.

The criminal case involving Sergey Zuev, Marina Rakova, as well as the rector of the RANEPA Vladimir Mau and other employees of educational organizations is connected with the suspicion of embezzlement of more than 50 million rubles. within the framework of the state project. In August, the court transferred Mr. Zuev from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest until October 21.
