There is such a political war between the leaders and political parties regarding the assembly elections to be held next year in Uttar Pradesh that when which thing becomes an issue and which word will create a ruckus, nothing can be said. The latest case is of the ‘Mahanavami hai or Ram Navami’ controversy that broke out between Akhilesh Yadav and the BJP on Thursday. Actually, Akhilesh Yadav made a tweet to wish the people of the state, now the BJP has targeted him in such a way that everyone’s attention is going towards this tweet.

Actually, Akhilesh Yadav in his tweet congratulated people on Mahanavami on Ram Navami. In this tweet, he wrote- ‘Wishing you and your family a very Happy Ram Navami!’. However, after a while, he deleted this tweet and made a new tweet – ‘Wishing you and your family a very Happy Mahanavami!’

But by then the BJP had got a chance to attack. Tagging Akhilesh’s tweet on the official Twitter handle of Uttar Pradesh BJP, it was written – ‘Akhilesh Yadav who does not even know what is the difference between Ram Navami and Mahanavami, he talks of ‘Ram’ and ‘Parshuram’ … don’t wear ‘cap’ to the public, it looks better on you…’.

On this controversy, BJP leader Amit Malviya told the media that Ram Navami comes in the month of Chaitra. Mahanavami takes place in Shardiya Navratri. This is the day of worship of Maa Durga. After this comes Dussehra. Reminding them of firing on kar sevaks, he said that those who do this start pretending to be Hindu as soon as elections come.

When is Ram Navami celebrated?

Ramnavami is celebrated on the ninth day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra. Chaitra Navratri ends on this day. This year Ram Navami fell on 21 April 2021. The day of birth of Lord Rama was the Navami Tithi of Chaitra Shukla Paksha. Ram Navami is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ram.
