The ‘Rail Roko Abhiyan’ of farmers in many states of the country started on Monday morning itself on the call of United Farmers Front in protest against Lakhimpur Kheri incident. Its effect is being seen in West UP, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. Farmers, especially in Punjab and Haryana, are stuck on railway tracks at many places and due to this the movement of trains has been badly affected. Farmers are protesting demanding the removal of Union Minister Ajay Mishra from the post. His son Ashish Mishra has been made the main accused in this case.
The farmers have blocked the railway tracks, but so far the agitation has remained peaceful. The farmers’ agitators demand that the three new agricultural laws should be abolished. With these demands, the farmers are stuck on the borders of Delhi for almost a year and there are many highway blocks. The United Kisan Morcha, representing farmer organizations, had announced a rail roko campaign on Monday from 10 am to 4 pm.
