During his address to the participants of the X Moscow Conference on International Security, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the United States, NATO, the “collective West” and “Western globalist elites” of organizing provocations and the collapse of European security. According to the head of state, by increasing the strike capabilities of the NATO offensive forces on the eastern flank, as well as building up military infrastructure and deploying missile defense systems, the North Atlantic Alliance, on the contrary, weakens the security system in Europe.
“In words, this is hypocritically declared to be the need to strengthen security in Europe, but in reality, just the opposite is happening. At the same time, the proposals on mutual security measures put forward by Russia in December last year were simply ignored once again, ”concluded Vladimir Putin (quote from the website Kremlin).
According to the President of Russia, Western countries want to maintain “their hegemony” by starting military conflicts. Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine “in full accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.”
“The United States and its vassals grossly interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states, organize provocations, coup d’état, civil wars. Threats, blackmail and pressure are trying to force independent states to submit to their will,” the president said.
The change of power in Ukraine in 2014, according to the President of Russia, was also implemented by Western countries, and its goal is the creation of “anti-Russia”. “They prepared the fate of cannon fodder for the people of Ukraine… turned a blind eye to the spread of neo-Nazi ideology, to the massacres of Donbas residents, pumped and continue to pump the Kyiv regime with weapons, including heavy weapons,” the head of state believes.
In his address on the start of a military operation in Ukraine, Vladimir Putin said that the United States and its allies are an “empire of lies” whose interference in the affairs of other countries, including Russia, leads to an increase in extremism and terrorism. Putin also considers the political forces that came to power in Ukraine in 2014 to be under the control of Western countries.
