
President of Russia Vladimir Putin sent a telegram of condolences to the families of the ex-head of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Vladimir Churov.
Putin in his telegram speaks of Churov as an honest and principled person, a professional of the highest class. He noted that Vladimir Evgenievich worked with full dedication.
“In the most difficult areas of work, in the responsible post of chairman of the Central Executive Committee of Russia, in significant public, law-making activities, he firmly and consistently defended his civic position, honestly served the Fatherland,” Putin said in a statement.
Vladimir Churov passed away on March 22, 2023 at the age of 71. For almost ten years, he led the main electoral body of the country. After completing his career at the Central Election Commission, he became Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
