Putin proposed to ratify the agreement with Abkhazia on dual citizenship

Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma a draft law on the ratification of an agreement with Abkhazia on the settlement of issues of dual citizenship. The document is published in the electronic database of the chamber.

The bill notes that an agreement with Abkhazia on the settlement of issues of dual citizenship was signed in Moscow on September 27, 2022.

It provides that citizens of one party have the right, without renouncing their citizenship, to acquire the citizenship of the other party to the agreement. The acquisition and termination of citizenship in the part not regulated by the document is governed by the legislation of each of the parties to the agreement.
